Rebirth of a behemoth!

Okies, maybe the title is bit misleading. It's not actual behemoth, just a double-tracked Leman Russ that has been dusting away on a shelf for some time. First it was to become a Demolisher, then Atlas and now, well I don't know yet exactly what.

The new turret is from 1:48 scale KV-1 kit, yes I'm a kit-basher, should learn those valuable plasticard skills and start making my own pattern stuff. But there will be two more of these on the production line in some point as I bought three kits at one go.

Dazrek brandished the new wonder bomb tightly. The Mekboy Laudbang had said that the bomb would attach itself to Oomie vehicles by itself, all Ork was to do was to run as close Oomie armour as possible and plant the 'magnatized' bomb on the vehicle and kaboom! It was supposed to be the effect those magna-ties and some fields of them, but Dazrek had lost track of Mekboy endless tek-speak and run off towards the field of battle with the new bomb. Magna or not, it was time for some good Boom and then lots of Dakka.

As sent by Gork himself, a lone Oomie tank was approaching the pit in which Dazrek was hiding. The tank is quite big, thought Dazrek, with wide tracks and large turret. Meks would love to loot that, but it will go boom soon, Dazrek grinned and dashed towards the tank as he saw the turret turn away to shoot some wretched Grots running away from all the fun.

Arming the bomb with a turn of a switch on one side of the flat bomb, Dazrek was just few leaps away from the front of the oomie tank. Hop, and he launched the bomb directly on the front piece of a tank. Sporting a huge grin he waited the tank explode in shower of fire and smoke but to his great dismay the bomb just bounced off from the tank. He had just a short moment to wonder what had happened when the hull-mounted bolter of the tank opened up...

Yes, as poor Dazrek's fate shows, the Leman Russ sports antimagnetic paste on the front, a Zimmerit of some sorts. It still need lots of work though.

Calvarian sector

Calvarian sector, located on the rim of the outer worlds, is formed by four sub-sectors that are listed below in the alphabetical order:
Birka, Calvaria, Limesia and Wendia.

Subsector of Birka consists of three star systems, all of them with several habitable planets. Birka is known as the granary of whole Calvarian sector as these planets are mainly agriworlds that produce so much different types of comestible products that the surplus is hauled to neighbouring sectors of Calvarian sector. Most of these agriworlds are divided between different noble houses of Calvaria that operate and manage huge latifundium (farms) with work forces numbering in several thousands.

Calvaria, the capital sector, consists of two star systems. These two systems, Calvaria Primaris and Calvaria Secundus, respectively, have two thriving hive-worlds each. Besides these populous bustling nests of human activity there are few other key points of interest in the Calvarian capital sector.

Limesian subsector is a border sector, consisting of only one star system. Outwards, the sector is bordered by the Vermilion Clouds, an area yet uncharted. The Limesian system has one mining world, Caevos I. The moon of Caevos I, named just Caevos II, is a heavily fortified outpost and prison. Also Imperial Fleet has a small sector fleet present in the system and the scout vessels of this fleet do make occasional short forays into the Vermilion Clouds.

Wendia has three star systems, the planets being mainly either agri or mining worlds. Of these three systems, the third and outmost one, Cruentan, was just recently partly over-run by the green-skinned xenos nemesis, Orks. The foul xenos threat was stopped but it took three Calvarian regiments (9th, 27th and 75th) and four planetary defense militia divisions (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th) to root out and annihilate the greenskins from the sector.

The heaviest of fighting was on planet Rodinov and its capitol, Teruelgrad, was fully levelled in bitter street to street fighting that saw brave action from both Calvarian 27th Combined Arms Regiment and Cruentan 6th Assault Militia Division. The remnants of the Cruentan 6th Assault Militia Division have been promoted to the proud ranks of Imperial Guard due to their gallant conduct in Teruelgrad and the remaining 1000 or so men and women of the 6th eagerly wait for another chance to fight for the glory of Emperor.

Welcome to Calvaria

Hello and welcome to the Calvarian Chronicles. This blog is my attempt to motivate myself to finish different hobby projects that relate to both Warhammer 40K and Aeronautica Imperialis.

This blog is completely unofficial and in no way endorsed by Games Workshop Limited and thus all associated marks, names, races, race insignia, characters, vehicles, locations, units, illustrations and images from the the Warhammer 40,000 universe are either ®, TM and/or © Copyright Games Workshop Ltd 2000-2009, variably registered in the UK and other countries around the world. I hope to include besides different modelling projects some background info on Calvarian sector, the system that my Imperial Guard units hail from as I consider the background, the so called fluff part, to be almost as intriguing part of the hobby as modelling and painting.

Without any further ado, welcome!
